Bristol With Ava Grey

2022 was a great year for holiday. Having accrued a lot of leave in the bank during the previous couple of Covid affected years, 2022 was the year I had to use it, or lose it. And so in early July, only a month after I’d gotten back from Thailand I found myself with another week free from the stresses of work.

I’d planned to spend the week locally, going to the gym, cycling to the beach, flying the drone and lots of coffee. As it would happen though, Ava and I were chatting and we decided it was high time we had another shoot after so much fun on the last couple.

So, on a baking hot Monday I jumped on the train to Bristol to meet up with her. I’d managed to secure a ‘Dayuse’ room, so we could do a couple of sets – one on the street and one with a more private boudoir/erotic theme.

We got off to quite an amusing start – Ava arrived to the wrong hotel and had gone straight to the room. It was very funny to get a phone call from her telling me she’d arrived and was outside my door, only to open and see her nowhere in sight! She was a little stressed when she finally arrived at my actual hotel!

This was a shoot with lots of challenges. The first half we tried to use the local streets, but the strength of the high July sun and heat combined with lots of building work in the local area made my compositions rather difficult. In the end we just concentrated in a tiny area of shade to get what we could. Moving back to the hotel and it was a small room with heaps of mood – just awesome – except – there was no window at all! So we had to get as creative as we could with the numerous bedside and table lamps scattered around. It was so difficult at the time, but looking back on it I think we did OK.

As always, shooting with Ava is just so much fun. She’s the sweetest, kindest person and we get on terrifically well. Scarily enough, this shoot was the last time I saw her, but we speak often and I hope it won’t be long before we see each other again.
