This post is chronologically a little out of place. It was November 2024 and I’d headed back to Thailand for my second trip of the year. As I’d done on most trips since Covid, I’d flown into Bangkok for a few days and then travelled down to Pattaya for the bulk of the stay.
Those first few days were a blur of deprived sleep and heavy drinking as full party mood was engaged in the streets of lower Sukhumvit. I arranged one shoot whilst I was there (with the gorgeous Penny Kim) but apart from that I didn’t take any photos at all and the camera stayed firmly in the bag.
In Pattaya I enjoyed a mix of street photography. sunsets and modelling photos (between all the drinking …). It was the street session though with fellow photographer Brendan which inspired me, where we’d spent a late afternoon strolling the streets around Soi Buakhao catching the hustle and bustle as late afternoon turned into night. When I headed back to Bangkok I had just a couple of hours free before dusk fell, which would be signalling pretty much the end of my trip. So, with Pattaya’s street photo session firmly in mind I headed out with my camera to see what I could get. Nana to Asok is no Chinatown, but there’s always plenty going on.
So this first post of the 2024 November trip is actually from the last day of my stay. Next up I’ll share the Penny shoot and then I’ll take us down the coast …
