Finally on 2017’s trip I made it to Promthep Cape, the most southerly point on the island of Phuket. A perfect spot for breathtaking sunsets over the Andaman Sea and somewhere you almost feel obligated to see when you travel here.
I’d missed out in 2015 and 2016 (as mostly, I couldn’t really be bothered!). Learning of this, Alola insisted she drive me out so I could finally explore and see what all the fuss was about. Although the weather was great when we arrived, sadly sunset itself clouded over. We spent a good hour or so trekking right out to the cape so that I could feel satisfied we’d seen as much as we could.
Despite the lack of a sunset, the views were still stunning and although the crowds were annoying, it’s to be expected in as famous a location as this.
This post also contains a handful of the sunsets I shot during my stay in Patong. It’s become pretty much a daily ritual now for me to head off down the beach an hour or so before sunset trying to find the perfect shot (something I’ve not come close to achieving, though I did manage to get my most favourite shot yet!).
I guess really need to hire a bike and get exploring the island a little more! …
