At this point in the summer of 2022 I’d gone from almost no backlog of photos to work through, to suddenly an awful lot following the Thailand trip and shoots with Fernie, Sara and latterly Ava. I now had enough editing to keep me busy for some time and I really didn’t need to take on any more, however all of a sudden I was made aware that Savannah was visiting Devon again and staying close to home. A quick chat on Instagram led very quickly into the making of a last minute shoot which I simply couldn’t turn down!
So, a couple of days later I finished work and headed the short drive away to catch up with Savannah again and see what we could create. This time she was staying in a beautiful private house with some lovely grounds outside.
As it was so last minute we really had no plan – it was a real case of make it up as we go. By the time I’d arrived we’d almost lost the sun already, but as it was summer it would fortunately stay light for just long enough to work through a couple of sets.
We started by exploring the gardens outside, although it was rather amusing on two counts. The first was that as some of the garden was overlooked by neighbours we had to be quite careful how we worked (everything was nude – I did ask Savannah if we could shoot just one clothed set but she said ‘No. I don’t want to do that.’ … so it was nude all the way!) and the second reason for my amusement, Savannah was looking after two beautiful Pugs and they accompanied us on every step fighting for our love and attention! I don’t know how I even managed a single photograph without one of them appearing in it!
As the light faded we headed inside and made the most of the small conservatory, we then wrapped up with a quick 5 minutes getting some grainy bathroom shots.
At the end of this shoot I felt a lot happier than I had when we’d shot previously … I think being able to work outside and in a larger space put me more firmly in my comfort zone. Regardless, it was awesome to see Savannah again – she’s such a lovely person and great model.
